The Pink Bow Foundation

PM2 has donated hygiene supplies to homeless teenagers in Lake County, Florida through The Pink Bow Foundation. The Pink Bow Foundation has provided hygiene essentials to teenagers who are homeless or in transition. The areas in and around Orlando have some of the highest homeless rates for children and families in the nation.

The PM2 Foundation purchased hygiene supplies and assembled kits for teenagers in the area. We partnered with the FIT (Families in Transition) Program, who distrubed the kits to teens through social workers and registered nurses who see them often.  

In January, the Foundation donated hygiene supplies to homeless and “in transition” teenagers in Lake County, Florida. This was made possible through a local organization called the The Pink Bow Foundation (www.thepinkbowfoundation.org). PM2 Family member, Kelly Preston, was “hands on” packing products for distribution.

The Pink Bow Foundation was started in response to a growing need to supply basic hygiene essentials (pictured above) to teenagers that attend school, but don’t always have a consistent place to stay every night. With the help of the FIT Program (Families in Transition), the hygiene kits are distributed to teenagers through social workers and registered nurses who visit them on a regular basis. 

There are many misconceptions and stereotypes associated with being homeless. Many people believe that the homeless are a product of substance abuse, sick or mental conditions, or the lack of effort to change their situation. In reality, homelessness touches men, women, children, families, and youth in our communities.  The great majority of these people have faced trauma, crisis, and hardships that are outside of their control.  The areas in and around Orlando have some of the highest homeless rates for children and families in the nation.

Below are photos showing some of the supplies that were donated (included items were deodorant, hand sanitizer, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes, combs, tissues, band aids, cotton swabs, and lip balm), the assembled hygiene kits, and Kelly volunteering by putting the bags together.
